Zapp for farms

Know what each season, flock and animal really costs, and what it is worth

Keep every crop season, flock and herd as its own record: what was spent on it, what it produced and what it earned. Track cows, goats, pigs and sheep one by one as they grow, get reminded before a vaccination or deworming is missed, and see the value of your animals and land in your accounts.

For: Crop, horticulture, coffee, poultry, piggery, goat, cattle, fish and dairy farms.

What Zapp fixes

You only find out at harvest whether the season made money.

Each season, flock or herd has its own budget, and every input and expense is counted against it as you go.

Feed and inputs go missing between the store and the field.

Inputs used are taken out of stock against the activity that used them, so what was bought, used and is left always adds up.

Birds die and nobody knows how many until the count is short.

Record deaths as they happen. The flock count and mortality rate stay up to date, and high losses are flagged.

You forget a vaccination or deworming until the animals fall sick.

Health programmes for chicks, calves, goats, sheep and pigs build the schedule from each animal's age or arrival, and a daily reminder goes out in the app, by email or by SMS to farm workers.

A calf grows into a cow, but your books still show what you paid.

A price table by animal type and age revalues the herd, at each month end if you like, and the gain or loss goes straight to your accounts.

You cannot tell what a tray of eggs or a kilo of maize costs you.

When a cycle closes, its cost is shared over what it produced, giving a cost per tray, kilo or litre and the margin.

Questions

Asked by farms

Can I see each season or flock separately?

Yes. Each one is its own cycle with a budget, its activities, what it produced and what it cost, so you can compare them.

Can I track each cow or goat on its own?

Yes. Each animal has its tag, birth date, weights, parents, breeding, health care, milk and value, and you can still group them into herds.

Will it remind me when animals are due for vaccination?

Yes. Add the suggested health programmes or your own, and every flock or animal gets its schedule. A daily summary of what is due goes out in the app and by email, and by SMS if you switch it on (paid from your SMS balance).

Does the value of my animals show in my accounts?

Yes. Animals are carried at their value, revalued from your price table as they grow, and sales, deaths and gains post to the books. Land and buildings can be added too, so your business worth includes the farm.

How is the cost per tray or kilo worked out?

Inputs used and expenses charged to the cycle are added up, then shared over what it produced in line with each product's selling value.

Do I need internet in the field?

Zapp works on a phone. Selling at the till keeps going offline; recording farm work needs a connection.
